Our Mocktail Must Try

Happy New Year!

Whether your New Years resolution involved embarking on Dry January or you are trying to maintain a positive relationship with alcohol, your beverage options should still be just as delicious! Long gone are the days where sickly-sweet virgin daiquiris are the only option for non-drinkers. Thankfully, due to a growing market for finely crafted drinks, sans-alcohol, we are more commonly finding mocktail options on menus. We’re loving the emerging mocktail renaissance upon us and there’s no doubt that mindful lifestyle alternatives are just as enjoyable.

So, how do you make a good mocktail?

Mocktails don’t have to be complicated to be delicious. To replicate the complexity of a regular cocktail, unique flavors can be achieved by mixing combinations of sodas, juices, syrups, and herbs. The key is to start with a good base. Think, tonic water, tea, coconut water, seltzers, or kombucha. Build upon that foundation with a sour. We love lime juice, fresh orange juice, and tart cherry juice. Top it off with something sweet- ginger beer, pineapple juice, or simple syrups. Your eyes eat first so don’t forget a delicate garnish to seal the deal. Mint, basil, muddled citrus, or crystalized ginger are a great place to start. If you’re not feeling creative, here’s a mocktail we think you’ll love that you can try at home!
